Inmates attend afternoon services at the prison chapel at the carol s. vance prison in sugarland, texas. the carol s. vance unit is one of the handful of prisons in the USA managed by evangelical christian pastors who use a bible-centered program for rehabilitation and counseling. from daybreak to lights out, the prisoners are put through a series of spiritual and religious exercises, lectures, discussion groups asked to bring christ back into their life. the program is also the prisoner's principal if not the only support chain once they leave the prison and return to society.
